Copy/paste problem

I have several files with single sheets from which I need to copy lines of data to a master file. I select C22:F22 and copy. The area is highlighted as expected, I then select one cell in the master sheet and try to paste, but I get an error to the effect that the areas aren't the same size. The same happens if I select, eg C22:F22 before pasting, or I copy from a single cell and try to paste in a single cell. There are no hidden or merged cells in either sheet, and Ctrl v or paste values give the same result.
If it makes any difference, the source sheets have been converted from PDFs using PDF24

Any ideas why, or a fix?

Thanks in advance.

Can Excel fill bagel flavors?
You can teach Excel a new custom list. Type the list in cells, File, Options, Advanced, Edit Custom Lists, Import, OK
What is the address of the cell you are trying to paste to?
Do you have any protected cells on your destination sheet?
Try making manual updates to the 4 cells you are trying to paste to, and see if you can update each one.

There were some protected cells. I've unprotected everything, but no change. I can paste a row of links, or paste cell by cell into the edit box at the top.

I'm copying a row of four cells from my source to a row starting in column A in the master.

If you open up a brand new Excel workbook, make up some dummy data manually, and try the same thing there, does it work?
If it does, that confirms that the issue has something is not an Excel-wide or system issue, but something specifically with that particular workbook.
