Copy a formula right, but cell reference going down.

I'm currently using a formula IF(B6=1,"W","L")

I need to copy the formula right, but when I do so I then get if(C6=1,"W","L"). I'd like the cell reference to go down instead so B7, B8.

I'm not sure what the best approach to this would be?

If your data starts in B6, put this where you need the answer to be, and copy across...
=if(OFFSET($B$6,COLUMNS($A$1:A1)-1,)=1,"W","L")

OFFSET is a volatile function. Here is a non-volatile approach:

=IF(INDEX($B:$B,COLUMNS($B$1:B$1)+5)=1,"W","L")

I did get this one to work, except when I dragged the formula to the right, it's still giving me the same answer based on the first reference(+5). It's like it's not moving down to the next reference which is +6

The formula has been tested to work.

If you made some modifications, make sure the first column reference is absolute and the second is relative: ...COLUMNS($B$1:B$1)...
