Heyall,
I have a VBA script that access a text file, extract information, do some manipulation and calculations, reexamine the files, extract some more information aso. And does that on several 1000s of files.
Each file take about one hour in average and I would like to use as many computers as possible to do the whole job. But then I have a coordination problem.
I could assign a certain range of files to each computer as I start the script but as I don´t know how many computers I can use the much more flexible solution would be if all instances of Excel could access information on the last job taken. Luckily the files are named 0001.txt, 0002.txt etc.
But how do I share the information in a way VBA can access it*? I tried to use google drive, make a simple TXT document with a number in it that is read and updated with +1 but it doesn´t update quickly enough to be practical. I wanted to find a simple PRIVATE counter on the net that update each time the page is accessed but to my surprise that doesn´t exist.
Any suggestions?
