Converting XLS into clean image file

Hi,

I am using MS Excel 2002. I have a spreadsheet that I wish to include in an online magazine I'm publishing. I'm trying to save the sheet in a format that will look 'clean' on the page.

I have exported the excel sheet as a PDF, and brought it into Photoshop to convert to a TIF - and, when I import it into Quark, it looks 'garbage'. I've imported the PDF directly into Quark, and it looks 'garbage.' I've copied the cells into Photoshop and created a NEW image, and imported that into Quark, and it looks 'garbage.'

The sheet is all text and numbers - no graphics. Some cells do have a shading, however.

I just need to create an image file that won't look muddy and bit-mapped when placed on the page.

How to show all formulas in Excel?
Press Ctrl+` to show all formulas. Press it again to toggle back to numbers. The grave accent is often under the tilde on US keyboards.
You mention you're using Quark, so I'm assuming you are using a Mac, no?

If you are/were using Windows, you could just use the 'Print Scr' key to take a screenshot and simply paste it into an image editor and save as a .jpg or whatever you want.

I don't know the Mac equivalent of that, though I did find these directions by searching Google.

In the end, it was something stupid. I was able to import the PDF to Quark, then save the Quark document as a PDF, and - sure enough - the graphic looked (and subsequently printed fine). Before converting to a PDF, I printed from Quark, and - again, sure enough - it printed fine, even though it looked terrible on the screen.

My days of learning continue, evidently! :)
