Hi all

I have a column of general formatted data which are dates displayed as yyyymmdd. When selecting 'Date' in the 'Format Cells' window, the sample output is hashtags and this is what appears in the cell if I press ok. I tried the 'Text to Columns' feature to convert to date but nothing appears to happen - it just stays as general format.

I don't know how to fix this - could someone help please?

Thanks

Tom

Excel Facts

Shade all formula cells
To shade all formula cells: Home, Find & Select, Formulas to select all formulas. Then apply a light fill color.
Then id imagine that isnt a date formatted as yyyymmdd its just a long number. Do you need it converted to date?

=0+TEXT(A1,"0000-00-00")
