HI

I have a data import where the dates have come across with general formatting and a pivot table will not allow me to group these. What's the best way please to convert to am actual date so that I can group by month etc?

I have tried DATEVALUE and whilst I get back the number format of the date ie 43558, 43559 etc, when I format these as dates and they show as 3rd April and 4th April - the pivot table will still not group.

I have checked for any spaces or incorrect data but this is an import from a finance package so it should be, and does all look ok?

Thanks

Excel Facts

Format cells as currency
Select range and press Ctrl+Shift+4 to format cells as currency. (Shift 4 is the $ sign).
Used LEFT MID and RIGHT to split the 'numbers' out and then used DATE function - anything less convoluted would be appreciated though :)
