I have three installations of the same ERP, one for each of three companies.I would like to use PowerPivot to report on company level and combined level. Is this something that can be done? Should it be done?

How can it be done? Do I bring all the needed tables from each of the three companies into PowerPivot? I am guessing I should rename each table to indicate the name of the company. Such as: Sales Company A, Sales Company B and Sales Company C.

I am very new to PowerPivot and using Excel 2010

Thanks,

G/L

Links? Where??
If Excel says you have links but you can't find them, go to Formulas, Name Manager. Look for old links to dead workbooks & delete.
There is a bunch of "it depends" here, but in general, "Yes, that is a great idea". It's generally easier if you can get all the data into 1 set of tables, likely using Power Query to get your data cleanly into Power Pivot... but really, it is not "essential".

I mean, whether total sales is SUM(CombinedSales[Sales]) vs SUM(ERP1[Sales]) + SUM(ERP2[Sales]) ... is not a huge difference.

Getting your "lookup tables" combined WILL be required though, else you want be able to filter across all your sources.
