Hello Excel Community,

I have connected one spreadsheet to the main spreadsheet (MASTER) by using the DATA tab, but I'm having issues because I would like the spreadsheet to look exactly like MASTER (including formatting & conditional formatting). Anyway I can do this without VBA coding since I'm not familiar with it? Thanks!

The short answer is yes.

The long answer:
1) Select the area you want to copy
2) press ctrl-c
3)Select the place you want the copied look to be placed
4) Right-click on the top-leftmost cell of that area and choose [Paste special...]
5) Choose [o Formats]
6) Click [Ok]
7) Smile at a job well done.

Now cry. Every time the new data updates you may have to redo this. VBA is the answer to automate it. It's tha same as recording a macro and then running that macro, which is a huge time-saviour. Yes Saviour, not saver.

Rhodie72, I was able to figure it out some other way. However, do you know why the number formatting on the connected spreadsheet does not reflect exactly as on the original spreadsheet?

Just to get some background, I connected the spreadsheet by using the "Existing Connections" button on the Data tab and inserted the data as a table. For example on the original spreadsheet I have a particular column as percentages, but on the connected spreadsheet they appear as decimal points. I try to format it to % and it is not working. Any feedback?

Could it be that the cells are not formatting correctly because the cells that are connected are actually formulas?

yes and also that they are a dynamic data source.

I'm not sure. It's not my area of expertise.
