I need to highlight any row that has any value in column P.

I've tried using this formula-

=$P1<>""

It did format the row but it also highlighted my colum headers as well which I have frozen at the top of the spreadsheet.

How can I highlight the row without affecting my headers?

Lock one reference in a formula
Need 1 part of a formula to always point to the same range? use $ signs: $V$2:$Z$99 will always point to V2:Z99, even after copying
first thing - change the range of cells the formula applies to
my data including headers runs form A1 TO P25 so I have applied formatting to A2 to P25 (note A2 not A1 ... you are applying the formula to the header row as well as the data rows)

then change formula to $P2<>""
