Conditional formatting; What takes up more space?

Hello!

I'm curious about conditional formatting ("CF"). I'm using it in a quite complex workbook and wonder if it's "better" to apply CF to an entire sheet (when possible) than to a certain (big) range. In the matter of saving workload.

FWIK a smaller range should take less space than an entire sheet, but I have nothing to back this up.
