I have created a number of conditional formatting rules for a selected area to format fonts for specific text, however, as soon as theres text typed in that is not in any rule, it makes it red.... how can I stop this from happening?
Thanks in adbvance

Hi Selina,

Without seeing the conditions its difficult to be specific, but I would look at the order of your conditions. Firstly, format your data in the way you would like it to appear if none of your CF conditions apply (this might well be the root cause of your problem). Then sequence the conditions such that the most specific occurs first followed by the next most significant etc. This ought to help; if not you will need to look at the conditions themselves and see how they can be tailored.

Hope this helps.

Hi Peter

Thanks for that - it was a simple oversight that you made me aware of - all the text that kept showing up red was plainly due to the underlying formatting in the cell and after selecitng the range and selelcting my default font (with the conditional formatting included) all my text other than the specified test came out black :-) thanks - your a legend!!!
