Conditional Formatting Question

I have several columns with drop down lists. Is it possible to format a row to highlight the cells with the drop down lists to notify the user to ensure those cells are filled out.

For example, if someone types into a row, I want certain fields (the ones with drop down lists) to automatically highlight. Once that field has had an option selected, I want the formatting removed.

Is this too complex?

You can teach Excel a new custom list. Type the list in cells, File, Options, Advanced, Edit Custom Lists, Import, OK
Let me try this instead...

If someone types into Column A, I want Cell B, C, D E and H to highlight on the corresponding row....
