Hi all,

I have a pivot table, in which I have applied a conditional format. But it doesn't work. This screenshot will help in explaining what my problem is.

As you can see, I have applied a conditional format to a certain field in my pivot table. This format is supposed to mark values that are zero with a red circle with an 'x' in it. But I find it being applied in all sorts of ways - zeroes are marked with all possible icons, and all values have the red circle icon applied indiscriminately. I don't understand what I'm doing wrong here. Please help.

The data is hourly breakup of a certain aggregate (DISTINCT COUNT) for a period of 14 days. I want to a warning highlight when this aggregate goes below 20, and a critical alert when it drops completely to 0.

Hello and welcome to The Board.
Conditional formatting the cells in a pivot table is likely to give incorrect results.
Here is a MrExcel podcast from some time ago but the solution, to this problem, still works in the latest version of Excel:

Thanks for this, and this is generally helpful. But I figured out what I was doing wrong. The icon is left-aligned in the cell whereas the number is right-aligned. So I was looking at the number of one cell and the icon for the cell adjacent to it. D-uh.

I removed the number and centered the icon, now my report is looking good. Thanks for the help.
