I Know what I'm asking is possible, I'm just having trouble figuring out the correct rule set and formula to make it happen. Let's use this as an example.

I have a simple drop down box that can indicate a Y or a N in Cell A1. if the user selects Y then I want Cell A2 to highlight itself blue.

Thats all i'm trying to accomplish, and I'm having the hardest time trying to figure out the appropriate way to make it work. any help greatly appreciated.

Excel Facts

Formula for Yesterday
Name Manager, New Name. Yesterday =TODAY()-1. OK. Then, use =YESTERDAY in any cell. Tomorrow could be =TODAY()+1.
Just click into the cell you want to have the conditional formatting (CF), in this case A2, then click on CF>New Rule>Use A formula...

Then put this in:
Code:
=a1="Y"

Then set your formatting rules.
