I have looked and tried, and no luck.

I need A3 to do 2 things
When the arrival date is less than the number of days allowed to turn red.
so it will turn red when a date is entered and also turn red automatically using today's date.

A1 has arrival date
A2 Has drop down list with 1 day, 3 day, 5 day. (I can remove "day", if that helps) (same document sheet called Data)

A3 to turn red...this is where I'll add the received date[TABLE="width: 500"]

[TR]
[TD]Arrival[/TD]
[TD]Allowed days[/TD]
[TD]arrived[/TD]
[/TR]
[TR]
[TD]08/01[/TD]
[TD]2[/TD]
[TD]08/05[/TD]
[/TR]
[TR]
[TD]08/01[/TD]
[TD]3[/TD]
[TD]Cell filled red[/TD]
[/TR]

[/TABLE]
Both cell are filled red, I didn't see an option.
Excel 2010 & 2013

Thanks Excel Wonder workers...I'm about 2 hours into trying ..no luck

Welcome to the Board!

You say cells A1, A2, and A3, but from your image, those would be columns A, B, and C, not row 1, 2, and 3.

Let's say that you have Arrival in A2, Allowed Days (just number, no "days" in text) in cell B2, and Arrived in cell C2.
Then, you could use this Conditional Formatting Formula on cell C2:
Code:
=(A2+B2) < MAX(C2,TODAY())
and choose your red formatting option.

To apply it to a whole range of cells in column C, select the whole range you want to apply it to, then enter the formula as it pertains to the very first cell in your selection. Excel will automatically adjust the formula for the other cells/rows in your selection.
