these formulas do not turn out well

blank =$J6="" or K6="P"

today or date expired =<today()) (red)

=AND($J6=TODAY(),$J6< today()) (red)
date expires in 1 day =$J6>today()+1 (yellow)

This can NEVER be true.
J6 can never be equal to Today AND be less than Today at the same time!

The rest of your post is very confusing.
Please just list out in plain English exactly how you want them to work, and we can help you write them.

IF $J6="" or K6 ="P" = blank

IF $J6 = TODAY - 1 = color yellow

IF $J6= TODAY OR expired = color red

You do not need to do anything for the blank option.

Yellow formula: =$J6=TODAY()-1
Red formula: = OR($J6=TODAY(),$J6="expired")
