Conditional Formatting - copy across multiple rows/columns

Hi there,

I am trying to apply conditional formatting across a worksheet, based on this formula;

=BC3<BC14 (turns cell green if the value is lower)

HOWEVER

I have read multiple forums/blogs/posts about this and I can't seem to get the conditioning to apply across further rows/columns. I am not using absolute references, and when I have tried applying the formula to a range all the cells (apart from BC3) are remaining white...

So for example, I need the rule to update to =BC4<BC15 or =BD3<BD14 and so on...

What am I missing??

Thanks in advance,

Kate

Excel Facts

Can you AutoAverage in Excel?
There is a drop-down next to the AutoSum symbol. Open the drop-down to choose AVERAGE, COUNT, MAX, or MIN
What is in BC3? the formula should result in true or false, with true causing the selected formatting to occur. The formula in Conditional formatting will be treated as if was copied. For example If you select cells CC3:CE7 and use conditional formatting =BC3 then cell CC4 would use the formula =BC4 and CD3 would use =BC3.

Hi,

I'm not sure why, but my post doesn't seem to be showing my formula!

I'll try again,

The formula is "=BC3<bc14" correctly!!)
< BC14"
so I need the formatting to change to "=BC4<bc15" on...
< BC15" or "=BD3 < BD14"
Thanks,

Kate</bc15"></bc14">

If a < sign is followed immediately by a letter, the forum software interprets it as some HTML code and that results in your formula being truncated. Best to just put a space between, which you ended up doing anyway. :)
