Conditional Formatting based on what formula DID

Hi, I was wondering if there is a way (official or a work-around) to conditionally format a cell depending not on the result of the formula but on what it did in the process. My particular case is a series of "IF" formulas embed within each other. For example: "If this number is blank, then grab this number and if that is blank, grab this other number"... I would like to color the cell a color if it found the first number, another if it found the second number, and so on... Any ideas?

Can you AutoAverage in Excel?
There is a drop-down next to the AutoSum symbol. Open the drop-down to choose AVERAGE, COUNT, MAX, or MIN
Hi, eflores89.
The short answer would be no.
If there are many different formulas which compare different things, you cannot use conditional formatting to achieve what you want.
A work-around would be to explicitly (perhaps stupidly) input all your conditions again, in order to determine whether the cell is grabbing a value from the first number or the second number.. so on..

However, the problem would be much simple if same formulas are used throughout the cells you want to apply conditional formatting.
The solution would be the work-around stated above.
