Conditional Formatting and Subtotals-shade "total" rows

I have a table created from the "subtotal" function, and I would like to shade each row that has a total. I tried using conditional formatting to shade each cell that contains the text "total," but this only works for the first cell in each row. How do I shade the entire row?

Welcome to MrExcel Board....

Hightlight the entire row and create your formula
formula is
=ISNUMBER(SEARCH("total",$A1))

then use the format painter to copy to all the others rows
