Conditional formatting and non-wildcard asterisks

Hello all,

I am looking to format cells that contain asterisks as part of the cell. So this is not a wildcard situation. I've got two types of cell conditions I want to highlight. Cells that contain asterisks will either start with 1 asterisk or 2 asterisks. I need different colors for both conditions. So the cells basically look like this if they contain asterisks: * abcdef and ** lmnopq. There is always a space and then more text afterward, but that part is irrelevant other than to inform on the structure of the cells in question. I just need the whole cell highlighted if it has either 1 or 2 asterisks at the front and am looking for conditional formatting rules that can do this.

How about
=LEFT(A2,2)="**"
and
=LEFT(A2,1)="*"

Make sure the 2 asterisk rule is the top rule
