Hello my friends,

I have a simple problem, but many blogs do not quite have a resolution.

I need to turn each individual row in column A to red if column C contains any number and green if zeor. However, I have 245 rows in column A that must act individually. I can certainly set up "Individual" formats for each row, but what I really need is to do this by selecting the entire section of all dates.

Here is a cut out of my spreadsheet. After I formatted the first 10 rows I gave up.

Any help is greatly appreciated....thanks you :)

Excel Facts

When they said...
When they said you are going to "Excel at life", they meant you "will be doing Excel your whole life".
You can conditionally format the entire column A at one time:

1. clear existing conditional formats
2. select column A
3. now select conditional formatting, formula based
4. Green formula: =C1=0
5. Red formula: =ISNUMBER(C1)

Ron, Thank you so very much. Your solution worked perfectly. But I don't understand how. Don't worry....I just need to look up the ISNUMBER formula and read up on it. I am so apprciative! I hope our conversation will help others.

You're welcome. Thank you for the feedback.

The ISNUMBER function returns "TRUE" if C1 is a number, which in turn will trigger the green conditional format.
