conditional formating

how would I write a conditional formatting rule that highlights anything in red for the cells in column H that have more than 30 characters in the cell? basically column H is my journal entry description and our accounting software cuts off any characters that exceed 30. I just think it would be easier if I saw something jump out to me in excel as opposed to having another column counting the length

Highlight the range that you want to apply the format to, create a Cond Format rule

=len(A1)>30

Change the A1 to be the 1st cell in the highlighted range.
