Conditional formating using H:MM

Hi there!

I'm working on a spreadsheet (using excel 2007) and I want to apply a conditional formatting rule that will change the cell colour if the H:MM is greater than 5:59.
Because I'm going to be dumping info into the spreadsheet every day from another spreadsheet so I don't want to have to tinker with the data before/after I've dumped the data. I've tried Conditional Formatting > Highlight Cell Rules > Greater Than... > Custom Format but that doesn't seem to work. It applies a false If True to all of the cells. Help please?
