Conditional Format based on Date

Is it possible to conditionally format a cell to light up a certain color if there are any dates appearing that are beyond the year 2017? 12/31/17 is fine to not highlight but 1/1/18 and so on would be. How could I do this?

If you want to light up cells where the date is next year or beyond, here is one CF formula that will do that:

=YEAR(A1) > 2017

try CF with Cell value greater than 43100

Thanks. I got Joe's solution to work. Alan, I tried yours too but I couldn't get it to work. I put =E27>43100. I am not sure if I should have worded it differently.

43100 is just how excel store the 31/12/2017

you can pick the 2nd option from the Select a Rule type > Format only cells that contain > then cell value is greater than 43100
