Default value is a 'No' - however after a date is populated to Column A, Column B can then be made a 'Yes'. Can't be an 'if' statement as it's not necessarily 'Done' straight away. Formula rule on Data validation maybe?

Kind regards

Excel Facts

Which came first: VisiCalc or Lotus 1-2-3?
Dan Bricklin and Bob Frankston debuted VisiCalc in 1979 as a Visible Calculator. Lotus 1-2-3 debuted in the early 1980's, from Mitch Kapor.

According to your first statement;
Default value is a 'No' - however after a date is populated to Column A, Column B can then be made a 'Yes'.
This would be your formula for Cell B2;
=IF(A2<>"","Yes","No")

I know, that is an IF statement...
About your second statement;
Can't be an 'if' statement as it's not necessarily 'Done' straight away. Formula rule on Data validation maybe?
If you want a " No " there when there is nothing there, but you don't want a " Yes " right away, What do you want in the Cell all the time then...?

A formula in Data Validation will be just like the IF statement...

I suppose I am asking you to clarify your desires, it just seems like something is missing...
