Hi there,
I have a list of tasks in column A for a number of months and in B the count of people doing these tasks. In column I - I have a listed these tasks while removing duplicates.
I want to put a formula into column J where the it sums the value in column B based of the task in I.

Any ideas welcomed.

I have tried - =IF($I1=A1,SUM(B:B),"") but this only returns the total value of all users for one specific task...

Thanks in advance

Which Excel functions can ignore hidden rows?
The SUBTOTAL and AGGREGATE functions ignore hidden rows. AGGREGATE can also exclude error cells and more.
How about
=sumif(A:A,I2,B:B)
