I really don't know if this is even possible in excel but will try to explain what I am trying to do and if it is possible this will save a lot of time!!
I have a master workbook with client number as column heading and various other headings across the worksheet. Down the column for client number is all my clients listed (100s!) and in the corresponding row the corresponding figures are entered manually. These figures have been entered seperately onto seperate excel files and saved in different folders on my computer according to case officers and month etc. At present I have to print off all these sheets and manually update the master workbook by reading off each seperate sheet and filling in each row one by one... a rather laborious process!
So, I was wondering if it would be possible at all to somehow cross reference the client number column in the master workbook so that it would be able to find the matching client in a completely different folder and excel file and somehow select the figures from that seperate sheet to automatically appear in the row for that client under the right column headings?
I hope I have not confused the matter too much!
Looking forward to hearing a possible solution,
K

Excel Facts

Copy formula down without changing references
If you have =SUM(F2:F49) in F50; type Alt+' in F51 to copy =SUM(F2:F49) to F51, leaving the formula in edit mode. Change SUM to COUNT.
Hi
It is possible. you should provide more details of where the sheets/files and stored and how they are connected to master file and other details
