Complete response not Posting on message

I responded to a post yesterday.
When I look at my response, the entire answer I typed is there (even in my history of posts)
When I look at the thread, half of a formula and a bunch of word are missing making my response look like gibberish. I tried retyping several times, each time, I read before submit, but in the thread it was jacked up.
I was also unable tojust delete my previous responses (to save the poor original person who posted the agony of my rants).
Am I doing soemthing wrong???? OR is it an IE8 problem witht he board compatibility (like each page opening and immediately bringing me to the bottom of the page, so i have to scroll back up to the top).
 
There can be issues with posting formulas on the board as it can think that < is the beginning of an HTML tag. If you leave a space between the < and other characters it should be OK.
