I have two sets of two columns, in column A I have an ID and in column B I have a version. I pulled another set of IDs and versions, column D has the ID and column E has the version. I need to compare these two sets of lists. I have to match up the IDs from A and D and then pull the corresponding version from column E into column C so I can see the two versions next to each other. Does this make sense? Is this doable?

Excel Facts

Return population for a City
If you have a list of cities in A2:A100, use Data, Geography. Then =A2.Population and copy down.
You current data structure is fine.

Let's say that you were looking up the value from A2 in column D, and putting the matching value from column E in C2.
Then the formula you put in C2 would look like:
Code:
=VLOOKUP(A2,D:E,2,0)
You should be able to drag the formula down for all the other rows.

Compare that formula to the link I pointed you to, and it should make sense what each argument (component) of the formula is doing.
