Sorry that title is vague,

I have a project where I am comparing Column D with Column J, Easy enough with standard CF rules, but I only wish to highlight the duplicates between column D and J, I am not concerned with/if there are duplicates with in each column (D or J) just if there are duplicates between the two.

I have tried to get =countif($J:$J, $D1) to work, and it does "highlight" most of the cells, but does leave some obvious duplicates without being highlighted.

There is 653 lines of data in Column D and approx 9543 in column J, maybe the formula is to simple, or perhaps my PC dosent have enough resources to plow thru that comparison?

Open to any ideas. Sorry for not understanding basics better.

Excel Facts

Formula for Yesterday
Name Manager, New Name. Yesterday =TODAY()-1. OK. Then, use =YESTERDAY in any cell. Tomorrow could be =TODAY()+1.

That works fine for checking for the value of D1 in column J. So you would use that for highlighting column D. But for column J, you would need to go the other way, i.e.
Code:
=COUNTIF($D:$D,$J1)
