Combining text box values in a report

I have created two combo boxes on a report: one to display a student's first name, another to display a student's surname. As the report is official, i would like to hide these two boxes and combine them into one "Name" text box. I have tried entering code such as '[Combo1] &" "& [Combo2]', but to no avail.

Any help in this matter would be much appreciated.

(sorry if this seems a little trivial!)

How can you turn a range sideways?
Copy the range. Select a blank cell. Right-click, Paste Special, then choose Transpose.
What you need to do is to perform this calculation in a query and then use that query as the record source for the report. The calculation is simple:
Code:
[Surname] & " " & [First_Name]
or whatever your two fields are named.
