Happy New Year to All !!!

I have Column A, which contains ID numbers, as such...12-3456. Column B contains names that are associated with the numbers. When I combine the two columns into Column C, I lose the the "dash" between the ID numbers. I wind up with "123456" plus the name. I need "12-3456 and the name". Thank you.

Links? Where??
If Excel says you have links but you can't find them, go to Formulas, Name Manager. Look for old links to dead workbooks & delete.

Assuming your values in Column A are cell formatted with this Type pattern...

00-0000

change your formula to this...

=TEXT(A1,"00-0000 ")&B1

Note that space after the last 0 places a space between the ID and the name... if you don't want them separated by a space, just delete that space after the last 0 in the formula.
