Hello,

As the title says. For example, I want to do a list from "1" to "10" using data validation option and on the other cell there is an equation in which if the number goes below the "1" it will notify me with an error message.

Excel Facts

Repeat Last Command
Pressing F4 adds dollar signs when editing a formula. When not editing, F4 repeats last command.
If your list is in A2:A11

=IF(MIN(A2:A11)<1,"error message","")

but if you have used data validation , you will get an error message if any number other than 1 through to 10 is entered

If you just want a visual you can do this through cell formatting. You can select the range and format the cells using a custom formula as follows:

[<2]"Error";General;General

This would display error even though the underlying value is still 1. You can still have your data validation as 1 to 10.

I want the cell with the equation to notify me whenever the value is going below the zero .In my case is the (inventory stock) and I connect it with a drop-down list in other cell .Anyway I will try what you recommended , and I appreciate your support.

Sorry for confusion, I'm using 4 cells in different columns first one is the drop down list ,and the last one actually is (cell#3 - cell#2) I want the last cell to display message whenever it goes below a number I will define later.

the formula in the last cell is the formula
(cell#3 - cell#2)
format that cell using
ldonkers post , slight modification as you want below 1 now

[<1]"Error";General;General
and you will get "error" in the cell

i think thats really cool
:)

if you need something different - expand
