Hi all,

I have two completely separate files/spreadsheets saved with different names. I am wanting one file/spreadsheet to automatically colour code a cell when a certain timeframe has passed from the date on the second file/spreadsheet.

For example - we are using this for training records, first file is a Master List with all staff names and hyperlinks to their individual training spreadsheet. They are required to do training on 1 day then an audit 3 days later.
I would like to be able to look at the Master List and that having automatically coloured the cells with the names of the staff who are due their audit (being 3 days from their training date).

Is this possible?

Thanks so much =)

You said you have two files. Then you mention each staff member's "individual training spreadsheet." Is there is a different file for every person? Or one file that has a different worksheet for every person?

To color (pardon my U.S. spelling) the cells, you need to use conditional formatting, but conditional formatting rules cannot reference cells in another file. The way to do this is to add data to the Master List with the training dates referencing the staff member's training worksheet. Then you can make a conditional formatting rule based on that result within the Master List file.

Your description is too high-level to give you an actual formula you can just plug in. Please be more specific about what data is in Master List, where it is located, what specifically are the cells you want to color, and how the data for each individual is set up in the other sheet/file/whatever it is.
