Color gradient for cells

Dear All,

Anyone can explain me how to do color format for the cells as shown in the picture. I wanted to use color gradient (not conditional formatting), however the border differentiation is not working for me as shown in the picture :

Create a Pivot Table on a Map
If your data has zip codes, postal codes, or city names, select the data and use Insert, 3D Map. (Found to right of chart icons).
Use borders with some light gray color - the gradient fill has no transparency.
