I have a spreadsheet set up that tracks employees and their training dates. I go into the spreadsheet periodically and highlight expired trainings yellow. Is there a way to make the cells automatically turn yellow if the date is past today?

Welcome to MrExcel.

You can use Conditional Formatting with a formula like:

=A1 < TODAY()
<TODAY()

Change the cell reference to suit.
