hello,

I have tried to do this my self but this is abit bigger than my skill set, im trying to make my grading spreedsheet easier for me to read, I have want to have it so that when ever I pass the pass work I want it to come up with pass and then when I pass merit, I want it to say merit, so on, would you be able to advise on this anyone.

Excel Facts

Formula for Yesterday
Name Manager, New Name. Yesterday =TODAY()-1. OK. Then, use =YESTERDAY in any cell. Tomorrow could be =TODAY()+1.
.
Your request is confusing. You can see what you want but we cannot. You will need to be more specific
with your description ... perhaps providing an example of what you have and what the outcome should be.

You can post a sample workbook on DropBox.com or Amazon Cloud or similar, with a link here.

Thanks.

Agree with Logit that we need more details.

However, if you are basing this on a certain numeric value, then maybe something like this...
=if(value>=merit-value, "Merit" ,if(value>=pass-value, "Pass","")
you could add extra levels to this, if needed, just start with the largest and work down to the smallest
