Client server based documents as source information

I'm trying to prepare some financial forecasts for a client as a planning tool for them moving forward. The forecasts need to look up information from excel order book documents saved on their servers (that are updated daily) and so I need to find a solution as to how I reference that data?

The base information needs to remain on the clients current file location but my forecasts will be written externally and then handed over to them at a later stage.
