Clearing Custom Filter Before Selecting

Running Excel 365 Pro Plus. Have a table with approximately 100,000 rows with duplicate entries. Have been using conditional formatting and custom filter to identify and sort these entries. Takes 20-30 minutes to run. However, when I want to use the custom filter for another task, as soon as I select custom filters the previous entries are still in place and the sort immediately runs again without my selecting it to execute. Is there a way to be sure the custom filter comes up clean between different sorting tasks?

Thanks in advance,

jaustin

Excel Facts

Enter current date or time
Ctrl+: enters current time. Ctrl+; enters current date. Use Ctrl+: Ctrl+; Enter for current date & time.
  • I am assuming you are using Data>Filter>Number Filters>Custom Filter>Custom Auto Filter
  • You could use VBA to set parameters and launch the task, it would execute only after a button click.
  • I wonder if advanced filter would be faster.
