In the macro naming window, there is an option to create a shortcut to run the macro. But there is only one modifier key option (Ctrl) with an empty field for the character to complete the combination.

Why is there only one modifier option and how do I know that the character I choose isn't already part of a shortcut, like Ctrl-S?

Most programs use the Ctrl modifier in their shortcuts, which means there are a lot of Ctrl-[character] combinations that are already in use and can't be used, and, I believe, will overwrite the default.

Can you sort left to right?
To sort left-to-right, use the Sort dialog box. Click Options. Choose "Sort left to right"
All the Ctrl shortcuts are occupied.
You can use Ctrl + Shift + your alpha character. Just press the Shift key when you click into that tiny box and type in your letter. Just use a letter with Ctrl + Shift that is not F, L, O, P or U to avoid those built in shortcuts.

You can create Ctrl+Shift shortcut keys by typing an upper-case letter using a Shift key.

Well, that's not very intuitive  Thanks, I would never have figured that out on my own /-:

I was watching a macro tutorial last night and when the user tried to create a shortcut combination that was already assigned he got a popup that said that shortcuts combination was already being used and did he want to overwrite it. I didn't get that popup when I put a lower case "s" in that field. Shouldn't I have?
