Chart with a 'theoretical line' based on user input

I've been asked to create a file that users can add data to which would be depicted on a chart.

A brief explanation: This will be used when constructing a drilled shaft. A drilled shaft is a hole (drilled into the ground) that does not have a standard depth or width. As the hole is drilled it is filled with a slurry to keep the sides from collapsing. Reinforcing steel is placed in the hole and then concrete is pumped into the hole as the slurry is pumped out. (this is sometimes used in a bridge substructure in place of pile).

The depth of the hole is measured after it has been drilled. It is measured again after each load of concrete is added. The depth and number of cubic yards added are entered into the spreadsheet and plotted against this "theoretical line" to spot any possible problems during construction.

The chart must have a straight line based on the initial depth entered by the user. That line would not change and is what I am calling a 'theoretical line' (because I don't know what else to call it). Data entered by the user would be plotted with a different line and would grow longer with each load of concrete.

I'm really having trouble wrapping my head around this request and I'm not sure if it's even possible. So far, I've come up with nothing.

Any ideas?
Thanks!
