hi is there a way where i can fix the secondary value axis to start at 0 instead of starting from minimum value like usual?
like the min value of my value axis is -12, the secondary axis will follow suit, i. e 0% will start at -12. i want it to start at 0 instead.

is it possible?

If I have understood the question correctly, I believe that you do not want the negative values on the axis displayed (otherwise it would just be a case of right mouse-clicking the secondary axis, selecting 'Format Axis' and on the scale tab set the minimum to 0).

So to 'remove' the negative values, go to the 'Format Axis' window and select 'Number'. From here select the 'Custom' format option and in the format box enter:
[>=0]0;;;
Then just click OK.

hi there,

after putting ur suggestion into action, i find that now the % at the secondary axis below the x-axis has become 0.
what i wud like to is that the percentage, 0% to start on the x-axis
instead of starting at the minimum value at the primary axis.
something like this:

Code:
3  _______________ 30%
2  _______________ 20%
1  _______________ 10%
0  _______________ 0%
-1 _______________
-2 _______________

instead of which is by default in Excel:

Code:
3  _______________ 50%
2  _______________ 40%
1  _______________ 30%
0  _______________ 20%
-1 _______________ 10%
-2 _______________ 0%

in that case I would expect it would just be a case of right mouse-clicking the secondary axis, selecting 'Format Axis' and on the scale tab set the 'minimum' value to 0.
Hope that this helps.

It worked fore me, I have 2007

another method

remove the series from your secondary axis from the chart
format the series with the 0%;;0%;
reinsert the series into the chart

this also worked for me

im working on 2003. once i remove the series the secondary axis option is not available.

re-inserted the series again and even after i format it, the numbers still start at 0! ): i will have to just to explain to my boss manually then.

thanks for spending time looking at this! cheers.

Try one more thing

With your data formated with the 0%;;0%;
make a new chart with this data and a dummy data column
see if the primary axis works

If it does, transfer your real data to the secondary axis and try to reformat the primary axis. If it works put in the data for your real axis

What I use to do before I started using the format, was to put is a white shape with no border and cover the numbers I didn't want shown in the axis. You don't want to do this too early, cause any format change will cange the relative position of the block. also check print preview since the block may move slightly for each different print driver,
