Just for fun, I have been charting the points margin of the NBA Finals games this year in Excel, using a XY chart. I'd been using time intervals for games 1-5, values in reverse order, so with 12 minutes quarters, the major intervals were at 48, 36, 24, and 12.
Last night's game went into overtime. I wanted to keep the first 48 minutes aligned with the previous results, but that wasn't possible using the time scale (since Excel can't handle negative times), so I converted the time to minutes and seconds, and then that into a decimal number of minutes. I adjusted the X axis to a max of 48 and a min of -5. To get the first 48 minutes of games 1-6 to line up wasn't a problem. The problem is setting the major interval at 12 gives me major intervals at 43, 31, 19, and 7, when I want them at 48, 36, 24, and 12.
Is there a way to force the intervals to begin from the left, thus giving me my desired intervals?
This is a great forum. How great? I've been using it for years, and this is the first time I couldn't find the answer I needed, so I signed up. I'm grateful for all of your expertise, and I hope I can be of help to you someday.
