I'm trying to convert a huge number of dates from a dd.mm.yy format to dd-mm-yy format.

I've tried converting the cells to Text format and then using Find/Replace with a simple . and -, but this doesn't work. The option to change these dates to the specific look I require isn't listed in the drop-down box when you change the cells to Date format, which is why I'm having to go down this 'Custom' route.

Any help much appreciated, thanks!

Waterfall charts in Excel?
Office 365 customers have access to Waterfall charts since late 2016. They were added to Excel 2019.
Welcome to the Board!

If a simple Find/Replace, replacing "." with "-" doesn't work (and you are sure you set it to find "partial" matches), that seems to suggest that your entries are already entered as dates, and are currently using a custom format of "mm.dd.yy". In that case, you should just be able to change the cell formats of those cells to "mm-dd-yy" to get the appearance you want.

Thanks, I'll try that, although I felt I'd exhausted all Custom options too. Appreciate the suggestion.

There are really only two possibilities:
1. Your entries are entered as valid dates. If that is the case, changing the Cell Format to the date format you desire will work.
2. Your entries are entered as text (and not as dates). If that is the case, Find/Replace would work and replace all your dots with hyphens, provided you set it up correctly.
