cells viewing European manufacturer barcode as formula

For inventory purposes, cells are viewing European manufacturer barcode as formula. What I need is for the prefixes not to be seen as anything more than just symbols.

What suggestions can be posed. Please make me aware if more information is needed to help solve this.

Is there a shortcut key for strikethrough?
Ctrl+S is used for Save. Ctrl+5 is used for Strikethrough. Why Ctrl+5? When you use hashmarks to count |||| is 4, strike through to mean 5.
