Cell referencing text shows zero

Hi All,

I'm referencing a cell on another tab by typing in the equal sign and then navigating to the referenced cell and clicking on it. The cell that I'm referencing has general number formatting but contains text. The cell that I have made equal to that text cell is showing a zero and not the text. I've never seen this before. Anyone know what might be going on here?

Thanks,
Daniel

EDIT: I forgot to mention that both cells are three cells merged.

What did Pito Salas invent?
Pito Salas, working for Lotus, popularized what would become to be pivot tables. It was released as Lotus Improv in 1989.
Welcome to the Board!

The first thing I would recommend is removing merged cells. They cause all sorts of issues for Excel and VBA. Quite frankly, they are not worth the trouble they cause.
If you are just merging multiple cells across single rows, you can achieve the same visual effect without all the issues by using the "Center Across Selection" formatting option instead.
See: https://www.atlaspm.com/toms-tutori...er-across-selection-instead-of-merging-cells/

See if your problems go away after removing the merged cells.
If not, please let us know exactly what is in the cell you are linking to.
