Cell being viewed as formula , wanting it only to be sceen as numeric value

For Inventory, manufacturers barcodes are being imported or scanned into Excel, problem is that Euro barcodes bring in sometimes "=" as a prefix to the numerical value skewing what Excel reads, converting the number sequence into a "formula".

I want to understand and convey to Excel that it is only a value and not formula.

Can you just format the relevant column as text before importing?

It doesn't seem to want to remove the " = " at the first of the nuemerics. thanks
