I use to be a VB coder and the error "Can't reference a Control unless it has focus" really bothers me. Espically becuase I can't set focus on that control and then use its information. Is their anyway to get around this error if you want to reference a control value from an anthor control?

Thanks

That should work OK. do you have any other code behind the form that could be clashing?
On open events or some thing?

try it without the text qualifier

Private Sub Form_Load()
If Combo39 <> "None" Then
Label50.Visible = True
Check49.Visible = True
Else
Label50.Visible = False
Check49.Visible = False
End If
end sub
