Can't perform requested operation

Hello everyone.
I get Can't perform requested operation error in Access 2013.So my question is, could anyone suggest me a proper way so that I may never face such issue again? How to recover access file?

so can we be clear, what were you doing, have you shut down the machine and restarted the programme

Yes I have. I even reinstalled Office.

Nothing special. I opened my MDF file in Access and got this message.

MDF files are NOT Access files.
