Hello All,

This has happened to me before, and I still have no idea how to fix it. I have looked around for an easy fix, and it usually revolves around "going to tools, then references and unclick the missing reference".

My problem is that I can't open the References box, it just won't open, and when I try to open the VBA code for the workbook, it just freezes and tells me Excel has stopped working. How can I fix this?

Regards

Hello DrBacon,

In my experience when VBA or Excel starts to act erratically, it is usually due to registry problems. My first line of defense is to defragment the Registry. However, defragmenting your drive will not defragment the Registry. You will need a program designed for this. I have used a program made by SysTweak for about 15 years to clean and defragment my registry. They have programs for both Windows and Macs.
